Gathered requirements, designed and implemented Great American Insurance Group’s Annuities Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW).

  • Developed an Inmon like Enterprise Data Warehouse, source data Staging Environments and Kimball like Data Marts (star schemas) to support reporting and analysis.

  • Reverse engineered physical and logical data models of SAP’s Sales, Purchasing, Transportation, and Foreign Trade tables.
  • Architected, developed and implemented a PL/SQL application to reverse engineer SAP’s internal metadata definition tables into the Oracle Designer Metadata Repository via Oracle Designer’s API.
  • Spearheaded multiple projects to migrate Data Warehousing functionality from BASF’s internally developed Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) into SAP’s Business Warehouse (BW).

Reverse engineered an existing enterprise environment consisting of a mainframe and UNIX Servers supporting a heterogeneous mix of databases consisting of IMS, DB2/UDB, Oracle, and MS SQL Server.

Freddie Mac, Data Architect, McLean, VA   (2004)

Analyzed existing business requirements of quarterly close the books (CTB) process.  Proposed new process that leveraged Freddie Mac’s existing data warehouse and reporting environment with the business objectives of providing a completely traceable CTB process in compliance with Sarbanes/Oxley.

  • Analyzed existing CTB DB2 and Sybase environments to reverse engineer as-is physical data models and data flow diagrams.
  • Designed a physical data model and ETL process to support Freddie Mac’s updated Data Warehouse.
  • Shortened the process duration from 6 months to 1 month.

Provided analysis, design, and implementation support to the Foundation Data Warehouse (FDW) Project.

  • Analyzed, designed, developed and implemented data cleansing and conversion to merge SmithKlineBeechum and Glaxo-Welcome financials into a common GlaxoSmithKline financial data warehouse.
  • Performed logical and physical data modeling, and DDL generation using Oracle’s Designer 6i.

United States Navy – Fleet Material Support Office (FMSO), Project Manager and Data Modeler/Architect , Mechanicsburg, PA   (1997 – 2001)

Established requirements, produced design, managed and contributed to the implementation, testing and integration of an Oracle Data Warehouse and ETL Processes, implemented in Informatica and PL/SQL, that provided the Navy with an OLAP environment for its logistical data.

Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), Harrisburg, PA   (1995 – 1996)

Project Manager/Technical Lead (Independent Consultant)

Established requirements, produced design, managed and contributed to the implementation, testing, and integration of an Application Processing System in a client server environment for the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).  The application was designed with Oracle Designer and implemented in an Oracle Forms and Oracle RDBMS environment that included extensive PL/SQL development.

Oracle Corporation, Redwood Shores, CA   (1993 – 1995)

Senior Software Engineer / Project Manager

Created Oracle’s first Sales Force Automation laptop configuration, created its first desktop support group and designed the database for an Order Fulfillment System.

  • Managed the development, deployment and support of Oracle’s first Sales Force Automation Project, consisting of over 1000 laptops for Oracle’s sales representatives and consultants throughout the US.
  • Managed the creation and implementation of a PC Desktop Support organization for over 3000 end-users, including the deployment of over 1000 PCs.
  • Established relational database requirements, produced relational database design, implemented, tested, and integrated an Order Fulfillment Database. Created logical and physical data models using Oracle Designer 2000.
  • Implemented a self-contained relational database in Oracle that guaranteed referential integrity and enforcement of business rules through built in referential integrity constraints, triggers, and stored procedures.
